Health and Safety Campaigns

Across the various regions where we operate, Gildan orchestrates a series of events targeting health and wellness. These events include health fairs, nutritional seminars, stress management sessions as well as a variety of physical and active lifestyle events, wherein employees are encouraged to engage with local professionals delivering the sessions.

Frontline Healthcare

Gildan provides frontline healthcare to all of its employees in Central America, the Dominican Republic and Bangladesh through fully equipped medical clinics at each of our manufacturing facilities which:

  • Operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Employ 42 doctors and 67 nurses worldwide
  • Provide such services as pre-natal care and vaccinations.

Medical staff provide medical advice and general treatment for medical issues as they arise as well as general health awareness.

The clinics at times host visiting specialist practitioners who provide consultative and informational services. In 2016 our Bangladesh facility hosted specialists in areas of Obstetrics and Respiratory Health.

Apparel production requires the material handling of yarns, fabrics, cut parts and garments. Recognizing the potential for impacts on our employees, Gildan developed a company-wide ergonomics program for manufacturing employees in coordination with the Ergonomics Center for North Carolina
Gildan's ergonomics program includes:
  • Employee Involvement
  • Management Leadership
  • Injury Management
  • Education and Training
  • Program, Compliance and Audit
  • Plant Ergonomics Team
  • Risk Assessment and Hazard Control
  • Prioritization and Analysis

Employee Assistance

Training and work-related stress management measures are available to employees in various locations, ensuring they have access to the right support.
The EAP is provided to employees and is available on a voluntary and confidential basis. This service provides guidance to employees and their families, and gives them the opportunity to talk to professionals for free when dealing with workplace challenges or personal issues.
